Wiltja Program
The Wiltja Program, located within Woodville High School, is the urban annex of the secondary programs being offered to schools in Anangu communities in the Tri State Area across W.A., N.T. and S.A. It provides educational programs for Anangu students participating in short and long term programs which support the overall secondary program being offered to students in Anangu schools across the Tri State area.
In 1978 a cross-cultural festival was held in Adelaide and groups of adults from Papua New Guinea, New Zealand and Central Australia were hosted. It was recognised from this experience that a means existed to bridge the gap separating the two cultures and foster better understanding.
A decision was made in 1979 to establish a formal program in 1980 on an experimental basis with selected Anangu students attending a program based at Ingle Farm High School.
In early 1990 the Wiltja Program was consolidated onto the Woodville High School campus.
