Music Program
Woodville High School is a designated Special Interest Music Centre. The Music Centre offers a wide range of specialist music courses to cater for the varied needs of its student population. The concept embraced by the Music Centre is to foster the development of the musically talented without students being separated from the mainstream education of a secondary school. The Music Centre functions in the spirit of dedication, cooperation, integrity and the pursuit of excellence under the three core values of the wider school community: diversity, creativity and success.
Public performance is a major focus of the course and staff and students look forward each year to performance highlights such as : Generations in Jazz National Stage Band Awards (Mt Gambier), Melbourne School Bands Festival (Monash University), Art of Jazz (Norwood Concert Hall), Glenelg Jazz Festival, WOMADelaide (Botanic Park), Assisting Artists - Public Schools Music Festival (Festival Theatre), Music Showcase (Elder Hall), vocal and instrumental Eisteddfods and the ever popular Jazz Cabaret.
